MTD: What you need to know

Making Tax Digital (MTD) is HMRC’s move towards a fully digital tax system. It means keeping your business records online and submitting updates through approved bookkeeping software instead of relying on paper or spreadsheets.

MTD already applies to VAT businesses, and over the next few years it will also include many sole traders, landlords and small businesses. You’ll eventually need to keep digital records and send quarterly updates to HMRC.

The good news? When your bookkeeping is kept up to date each month, MTD becomes simple.

At Smart Digital Bookkeeping, I help clients stay compliant by keeping their records organised, digital and ready for their accountant — so you don’t have to worry about new HMRC rules.

If you’d like help preparing for MTD or want your records managed for you, I’m here to support you.
